Amphotericin B — impurities and related standards
All 3 Amphotericin B-related compounds in the CATO catalogue, listed with their CAS numbers, molecular formulae and stock status. If the compound you need is not listed, send the structure or the impurity designation and we will check whether it can be synthesised or isolated.
Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal produced by Streptomyces nodosus and used for serious systemic fungal infections. Its molecule is a large macrolide with a polyol chain and a heptaene chromophore, and both features drive its related-substance profile: fermentation generates related polyene congeners, while the conjugated double-bond system is sensitive to oxidation, light and heat, producing degradation products that require control in the drug substance and in lyophilised formulations. The amphotericin B entries on this page are the EP-designated impurities, each provided as a separate, structurally defined standard for pharmacopoeial related-substance testing, peak identification, and the development of stability-indicating chromatographic methods.
