Teprenone — impurities and related standards
All 5 Teprenone-related compounds in the CATO catalogue, listed with their CAS numbers, molecular formulae and stock status. If the compound you need is not listed, send the structure or the impurity designation and we will check whether it can be synthesised or isolated.
Teprenone is a gastroprotective agent used in human medicine for gastric mucosal lesions, and it is a mixture of geometric isomers of geranylgeranylacetone, a synthetic acyclic terpenoid related to the natural polyisoprenoid pathway. Its impurity profile follows directly from that structure: the extended isoprenoid chain can adopt several double-bond geometries, giving cis and trans isomers, and it is also prone to oxidation and to formation of higher terpenoid oligomers during synthesis and storage. The teprenone entries on this page are non-compendial impurity standards covering these isomeric and oxidised species as individual, characterised lots, offered for isomer resolution studies, peak assignment, and stability-indicating related-substance methods in pharmaceutical analysis.
