Vancomycin — impurities and related standards
All 7 Vancomycin-related compounds in the CATO catalogue, listed with their CAS numbers, molecular formulae and stock status. If the compound you need is not listed, send the structure or the impurity designation and we will check whether it can be synthesised or isolated.
Vancomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic produced by Amycolatopsis orientalis and given parenterally for serious infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including strains resistant to other agents. Because it is a fermentation product, its impurity profile is dominated by closely related glycopeptide congeners: differently chlorinated analogues, demethylated and oxidised forms, crystalline degradation products, and the dimeric species that form in solution. Laboratories therefore need well-characterised individual congener standards to resolve and quantify these components. The items listed here are the EP-designated vancomycin impurities, each offered as a single, structurally defined standard intended for pharmacopoeial related-substance methods and for laboratories developing their own separation of the glycopeptide series.
