A mycotoxin of the fumonisin family, Fumonisin B1 is a diester formed between propane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid and a long-chain aminopolyol, described by the molecular formula C34H59NO15 and a molecular weight of 721.83. It occurs naturally in maize and other cereals colonised by Fusarium moulds and is widely monitored as a food and feed contaminant. Laboratories rely on this reference material when developing and validating LC-MS/MS methods, establishing retention-time and ion-ratio criteria for qualitative identification, and preparing calibration curves for quantitative determination in complex cereal matrices. Supplied as a white to off-white solid, it should be stored at -20 °C (±5 °C) and is shipped with ice packs to preserve integrity in transit. Available pack sizes include 1 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg. Current availability, documentation and a quotation can be requested from the supplier.
