Tetrahydro Cortisone is a reduced metabolite of cortisone, formed by saturation of the A-ring double bond and reduction of the C-3 ketone. It belongs to the tetrahydrocorticosteroid group studied in steroid profiling, and its formula is C21H32O5 with a molecular weight of 364.48. The material is a white to off-white solid. Clinical, forensic and pharmaceutical laboratories use reference standards of this kind to identify and quantify metabolites in urine or plasma by LC-MS/MS, to build calibration curves for endogenous steroid panels and to verify the selectivity of sample preparation.
